DECEMBER 2005!: Holy crap... an update. Just wanted to let everyone know... after like 5 years in the making... THE NEW CD IS OUT ! For now, if you want to order a copy, send an email to the email address on the site here. The site will soon have some big changes and i'll have clips of the new CD up as well as other stuff like new lessons, pictures, video, etc...

JULY 2003: Well, thanks to all you guiys in the "Shred Planet" seminar this week at the NGW. It was cool. Now, i got much complaining about updating the site. Point taken. i'll do that soon, like when i return in August. But in the mean time... i'll put up the midi file from our last exercise of the last day as promised. We'll call it The Red Queen Suite for lack of a better title at the moment. For those of you that weren't in the seminar, this was a tabbed example my class worked on. i hope to record it and put the clip up here. Till then, vive le midi!

DEC 17th, 2002: Okay kids, first of all, the new Jason Becker tribute double CD Vol. 2 just came out from Lion Music. It features great artists and pals such as as Rusty Cooley, Steve Booke, Scott Hughes and of course... me, stuck right between Steve Vai and Marty Friedman. Jeeze! Pick a copy up today, it's for a great cause; the proceeds go to Jason and his family.

And.. it's been up for a little while now, but thanks to Francois at Guitar-Heroes.com for the cool interview with me. Check it out.

Finally, happy holidaze to all you guitar freaks out there!

Nov. 18. 2002: Just to let ya all know quickly, my computer's been down for a while now, so it's been hard for me to email back to ya all in a timely manner. Updates to the site have obviously not been happeneing, too. Sorry. i'm getting it together and should have some stuff up soon.

Make sure to check out my CD Rom instructional at Chops From Hell, too. It's my best instructional stuff to date chock full o' great licks and tricks of doom and jam alongs for odd time and melodic minor stuff and much, much more!

Also, my pal Matt Williams has put together a new double CD featuring the most over the top players out there today. This CD will singlehandedly bring down the Shrapnel empire! Hehe. Seriously, there's really some amazing talent on it and Matt, a long time virtuoso guitar lover, knows his stuff when it comes to finding the right people for this disc. Check it out and pre order a copy now!

Well, updates have been few and far between because of some personal stuff goin on with me right now but i would like to wish all my friends and visitors a happy new year! Also, big news for me, whoohoo, i've joined the Trans Siberian Orchestra and have been working with them for the past several months. Wasn't out on tour with them this season but may be in the future. Thanks to all the great people in the organization for making it a great experience.

My good friend Rusty Cooley also has 2 new awesome CD Roms up at www.chopsfromhell.com. You gotta see them to believe them!

New Lesson, Lesson #5, in Lessons section
AUGUST 30, 2001
Well, i'm back kids. The NGW was alot of fun this summer; thanks to all the awesome students i had for making it a good time. Hanging with my long-time guitar hero, Ty Tabor, was also super cool. Thanks to Ty for showing up and now we'll always have fond memories of the
Lynyrd Skynyrd prom we attended the night before the class...

um... right, anyway for any Kings X fans, i got to hear the new CD in it's entirety and it won't disappoint! Slightly different direction but very cool, nonetheless. Thanks also to Brett Garsed for being the runner up for "nicest guy on the planet" award (first place has gotta go to Andy Timmons for NOT raggin on C.C. Deville after much instigation). Brett is one sick !@#% on the guitar! It was a pleasure to watch him rip it up.

On the Kings X subject, David Koblentz, master of the KingsX.net website is now in charge of the official site, KingsXonline.com. Great sites, check 'em out!

My new 4 song CD is done and out. Whoohoo! i know i have promised many of you info about it in emails you've sent as to where and when to get it. i'm still hooking that end up and info should be up here at this site soon. Stay tuned!

Also, i have finished a E-book (whoohoo again!) called "Unearthed Arcana" for Chops From Hell. Content includes delving into various modes of Melodic Minor and jam alongs for each, advanced rhythm mayhem such as odd time, metric mod and polyrhythm with jam along tracks for much of it, and of course... licks of impending doom, devastation and destruction (not necessarily in that order). Check it out, i think you little guitar maniacs out there will really dig this one!

FEB. 10 2001
Well, here's another update (everyone cheer right... now). First of all, thanks to Kevin at Jackson Guitars for including me in the Jackson catalog once again. They've got some seriously cool guitars and paint jobs in this new one!

Next... "Where the hell is this so called CD of yours i've been hearing about, Terry!?" Ok, ok, ok... i've received much email about this and it's time to set the record straight; it is ACTUALLY real, i have been working on it, and it WILL be out. The big hold up has been between myself and a certain individual who shall remain nameless... we'll call him, uh, Greg Kalember- long time pal of and drummer-in-bands-with Terry Syrek... there, that wasn't too specific or obvious, right? Well, uh, "Greg" is a busy professional musical engineer type guy and that leaves little time for his poor struggling artist type buddy, namely-me. It's taken far too long to come to any agreeable times to work on this thing so i have taken matters into my own hands. My recording machines are safely back in my own possession and work on the CD will progress much faster now, although at a far greater personal expense to yours truly. "Greg" was the provider of much free studio time and engineering. But, alas, if a tree falls in the forest... At any rate, alot of the project is done. At this point, various percussion, some vocals, strings and guitar leads remain to be done. i hope to have this whole thing finished by the summer. On the good side, i am really excited about how it's turning out. i think it's gonna be a bit different than one might be used to hearing from a guitar-geek such as myself. More to come as it progresses...

My good pal Rusty Cooley has a new Shred instructional book/vid/CD out. It's a must have for any serious guitarist; You gotta check it out!

Big thanks goes out to Danny Tunker for mentioning the heck outa my name in a recent interview. You're a rippin player, Danny and i'll remember the kindness!

Thanks also to Matt Cafissi at Guitar Chef magazine for the interview on his site. It's a great guitar site, check it out! Look for me in the "Archives" section.

i'm on a Joe Satriani tribute CD titled "Crushing Days" thats out now and available in all major record stores (Tower, HMV, Camelot etc...) and online at CDNow.com and Guitar9.com. The disc is filled with great players and their very unique interpretations of Joe's music. Very Cool!

Look for new lessons and other changes on the site soon!

OLDER INFO

i'm currently hard at work on my CD project. It's basically a musician-featured instrumental work in the prog-rock vein. The songs are all composites of my favorite things; if you'd like to hear Rush meets Kings X meets Meshuggah meets Indian and Moroccan percussion with plenty o' guitar solos and incredible drumming, this is the disc for you! As, usual visitors know, it's been a work in progress for, oh, 2 years now. It's still rolling along but due to several setbacks, it's been slow going. It will get finished!

i've also finished a book for Alfed Publishing called
"Shred Is Not Dead". This book was done as an off shoot of my video by the same title, which is based on intermediate to advanced rock guitar playing. The book contains some similar things but focuses more on new material, and explores not only technique, but it's application harmonically, melodically, and rhythmically. There's some really great jam tracks on it, too, which feature the same amazing drummer, Greg Kalember, who is playing on my CD.
Look or ask for it in stores near you.
